Ecodesign labels
Ecodesign of labels – is a hollistic approach to sustainability of packaging. All packaging elements should be designed with the view to be recyclable and have least impact on the environment. In order for the materials to circulate, it is necessary to design the label with the packaging and it’s whole life cycle in mind. This way, we increase the chance of recycling and enable circular economy approach . Well-designed packaging and a properly selected label result in less waste in incineration plants and landfills, and for recyclers – more good-quality recycled material.
This is the most important out of all our sustainable categories, it brings together all sustainability issues in one holistic approach.
Our approach to Ecodesign can be defined in the following principles:
E – Elimination of harmful substances (toxic glues and inks, fossil fuels, etc)
C – Certified renewable materials from responsible sources
O – Optimisation of design for less ink usage
D – Decreasing weight and volume of labels
E – Enabling of label removing if recycling process demands it
S – Selecting of recycled materials whenever possible
I – Increasing chances of recyclability by adjusting label material to packaging
G – Generating as little production waste as possible
N – NIR friendly – optimisation of label size, material and print for NIR waste sorting sensors
The labels that we sign with the EcoDesign pictogram have been optimised in cooperation with us, so that their negative impact on the environment is as low as possible.
